The SOMD Competitive Dance Program is designed for dancers ages 5.5 through Adult who are passionate, love to perform, and want to elevate their training. Our program builds a strong foundation in dance technique, artistic development, and provides multiple performance opportunities throughout the season.

Dancers can choose the Full Program (Academy + Street Styles) or a Partial Program (Academy or Street Styles only), allowing flexibility to match their interests and goals.

The Adult Competitive Dance Program provides professional-level training and performance opportunities in Heels, Urban Choreo, and Femme Choreo.

kids | teens competitive dance  program (ages 5.5 +)

Our kids and teens competitive dance program is divided by maturity and skill level into three groups: Minis, Juniors, and Intermediates. Each group trains 2–4 times per week, depending on level. All teams take part in three mandatory competitions (two in the Ottawa area and one within 2–4 hours of Ottawa) and perform at our year-end showcase in June.

Dancers who want additional training can add solos, duets, trios, extra classes, conventions and choreography opportunities.

Academ Styles

Dancers train in a variety of genres, including Ballet, Jazz, Acro, Contemporary, Lyrical, and more. This program focuses on technical and expressive dance styles.

Street Styles

This program focuses on high-energy urban dance forms, with training in Hip-Hop, Vouge, Dancehall, House, Latin Fusion, Jazz Funk, and other street-influenced styles.
