At SOMD, we offer classes suitable for both beginners and experienced dancers who are either just starting their journey or looking to enhance their skills in a non-competitive artistic environment.
All dancers have the opportunity to participate at the Year-End Showcase in June, where they can shine and showcase their progress on a professional stage.
Dancers can choose from styles that suit them best: HIP-HOP, JAZZ, TAP, BALLET, MUSICAL THEATER, ACRO, CONTEMPORARY and MORE!
We offer classes for dancers 2 and up.

Toddler Program
ages 2 to 3.5
Our Toddler classes are designed for children as young as 2 years old. Each class lasts 30 minutes and aims to foster a love for dance. One adult is required to assist their child during the class.

Rising Stars
ages 3.5 to 5.5
The Rising Stars program continues to develop the foundational movements in Ballet, Hip Hop and Acro/Jazz in an enjoyable, nurturing, and creative environment. Each class is 40 minutes long.

Academ Styles
For dancers age 6 and older
Depending on the age group, the classes will have two or more styles from Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical.

Dive into the dynamic world of Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Dancehall, Popping, House, and beyond.

Tap
For dancers age 6 and older
Tap dance is all about rhythm, syncopation, and creating sound through movement. We prioritize musicality, expression, and technique in this class. It's highly recommended for all skill levels and age groups.

Acro & Technique
ages 6 to 17
Whether you're a beginner looking to build a strong foundation or a experienced dancer aiming to take your skills to new heights, our Acro & Technique classes are tailored to meet your needs. Develop your splits, backbends, cartwheels, walkovers, head/arm stands, conditioning, balance, and dance technique.
Musical Theater
ages 6 to 17
Musical theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. This form of dancing emphasizes learning the performing skills such as connecting with the audience and acting.
K-POP
ages 9 to 15
Our K-Pop Kids Kanata class brings the excitement and energy of K-Pop straight to the studio! Students will learn dynamic routines inspired by popular K-Pop hits, improve their rhythm and coordination, and express themselves through fun, high-energy choreography.

The Recreational Program is designed for dancers with little to no previous dance experience who are looking for a non-competitive and less intense environment or who wish to join the Competitive Team in the future.
If your goal is to join the Competitive Team, we recommend taking multiple classes each week.
Dress code
Recreational classes are more relaxed and fun-oriented, but following the dress code is essential. It ensures safety and allows for easy movement. While we value comfort and personal expression, adhering to the dress guidelines helps everyone participate fully and enjoy their dance experience.
