At SOMD, we offer classes suitable for both beginners and experienced dancers who are either just starting their journey or looking to enhance their skills in a non-competitive artistic environment.
year-end showcase - June 17, 2027
(Deress Rehearsal - June 5)
All dancers have the opportunity to participate at the Year-End Showcase in June, where they can shine and showcase their progress on a professional stage. A costume fee of $40–$80 per class will be added to your account in Spring. Students enrolled in multiple classes will be charged one costume fee for each class.

Toddler Program
ages 2 to 3.5
Our Toddler classes are designed for children as young as 2 years old. Each class lasts 30 minutes and aims to foster a love for dance. One adult is required to assist their child during the class.

Rising Stars
ages 3.5 to 5.5
The Rising Stars program continues to develop the foundational movements in Ballet, Hip Hop and Acro/Jazz in an enjoyable, nurturing, and creative environment. Each class is 40 minutes long.

Academ Styles
For dancers ages 6 and older
Depending on the age group, the classes will have two or more styles from Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical.

Dive into the dynamic world of Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Dancehall, Popping, House, and beyond.

K-POP
ages 9 to 15
Our K-Pop classes bring the excitement and energy of K-Pop straight to the studio! Students will learn dynamic routines inspired by popular K-Pop hits, improve their rhythm and coordination, and express themselves through fun, high-energy choreography.
Two Levels: Beginners and Intermediate Levels
Tap
For dancers ages 6 and older
Tap dance is all about rhythm, syncopation, and creating sound through movement. We prioritize musicality, expression, and technique in this class. It's highly recommended for all skill levels and age groups.

Acro & Technique
ages 6 to 17
Whether you're a beginner looking to build a strong foundation or an experienced dancer aiming to take your skills to new heights, our Acro & Technique classes are tailored to meet your needs. Develop your splits, backbends, cartwheels, walkovers, head/arm stands, conditioning, balance, and dance technique.
Musical Theater
ages 6 to 17
Musical theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. This form of dancing emphasizes learning the performing skills such as connecting with the audience and acting.

Students may join throughout the season. Tuition is prorated based on the number of classes remaining
Annual tuition is divided into equal monthly payments, with final payment required by May 1st. Tuition is calculated based on the number of scheduled classes during the dance season. Holiday closures and studio breaks are excluded from tuition calculations.

Monthly tuition examples shown above are based on nine (9) equal payments throughout the season. Actual payment amounts may vary depending on when you register, the number of classes selected, and the number of payments remaining for the season.
Multi-Class or Family Discounts
Save on total tuition when you register for multiple classes or family members:
2 registrations: 5% off
3 registrations: 10% off
4 registrations: 15% off
5+ registrations: 20% off (max discount)
Registration fee
$44.25 + HST. Registration fee is not refundable (covers admin fee, dancer's stage rehearsal and year-end showcase performance)

Costume fee will be added to student account in Spring. Families will be notified by email at that time. Costume fees range from $40 to $80 per class, depending on the costume selected. Students enrolled in multiple classes will be charged one costume fee for each class. Costume fees are non-refundable, as costumes are ordered specifically for each student.
Payment information
Payment Method – Monthly Auto-Pay
All registrations are automatically set to monthly payments using a credit card. Registration fee is payable at the time of registration. The remaining balance is divided evenly across the remaining months of the dance season and processed at the beginning of each month. Final payment is required by May 1st. A 2.4% POS surcharge applies to each monthly credit card transaction.
Postdated checks, e-transfers and cash are accepted as well and do not incur any additional card processing fees. Postdated cheques may be used for monthly payments. E-transfers and Cash are accepted only for payment in three (3) equal installments (example - due on the 1st of September, December and March). To request a change from the default monthly Auto-Pay method, please complete your registration first, then email us to update your payment preference.
Late Payment Policy
For accounts on Auto-Pay, the system will automatically attempt to process the payment up to four times, with a notification sent to the parent after each failed attempt. If all attempts are unsuccessful, a $30 late fee will be automatically applied.

For all other payment methods, if payment is not received within 7 days of the due date, a $30 late fee will also apply.
Continued missed payments may result in suspension from classes until the account is brought up to date.
refund policy
Students can withdraw from the recreational program by providing a two-week written notice to our email before March 1st. Students will receive a refund minus the cost of any classes already attended. After March 1st, class fees are non-refundable.
Registration and costume fees are non-refundable.
Dress code
Recreational classes are more relaxed and fun-oriented, but following the dress code is very important. Proper dance attire allows students to move freely, participate comfortably, and helps maintain a positive class environment where everyone can get the most out of their dance experience.
